Capital of the Hawaiian Kindgom

Capital within the Hawaiian Kingdom's Capital

This digital library explores the currency and commodities that sustained Lāhainā, a Maui town, during the time of the Kingdom of Hawai'i (1795-1893). Lāhainā was the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom between the years 1802-1845.  Travelers from around the globe voyaged to and through Lāhainā. This digital collection showcases the coins exchanged for commodities (primarily whaling and knowledge).
