The aim of this digital library is to provide the viewer with a collection of text, images, sound, and moving images representing the last 500 years of childbirth.  The collection will feature artifacts surrounding pregnancy, labor, delivery, and pain relief and is intended for education purposes to support research, teaching, or personal enrichment. The intended user is any individual or institution intrested in the beautiful and sometimes dangerous experience of childbirth through the ages and across various cultures. The collected materials have been sourced from other digital collections in the public domain or under the Creative Commons License. Some of the content depicting childbirth may not be suitable for those 18 years or younger.
