What are Fairy Tales?

Fairy tales are often characterized by the inclusion of mythical entities, like unicorns or dragons, in their stories. They also do not typically reference actual places, times, events, or people. It is common for many fairy tales to begin their stories with the phrase “once upon a time.” Fairy tales can be short stories or stories containing multiple chapters.

Who is the Collection for?

This collection is for scholars, educators and fairy tale enthusiasts interested in exploring these genres of literature whose origins are closely associated with European culture. Fairy tales provide adequate learning material to examine basic story development, character development, and depictions of cultural values and behaviors found in Europe.
